A Day in the Woods

Bargain Basement $10
*A Day in the Woods* consists of 4 background designs. Then you choose your detail designs to create your scene.

The First Step

Stitch the Background designs. As you can see below, you can use 1, 2, 3 or 4 of them to create your initial background.

You can use all four panels, or just one to create different size scenes. Or you can combine as many of them as you want to create any size design. You can also experiment with different colors for parts of each design.
Some of the suggested uses for these designs have been: Tote Bags, Framed Pictures and Wall Hangings,Pillows, Picture books with the smaller designs done separately and having *Tack It *on the back so children can make their own scenes.

The Second Step

Add detail designs

Chantell of Chantell's Creations has created a special set that looks great with the woodland background. Chantell has also given her Babes a special price! :)

You can find the bonnet Babes here:

http://www.chantells-creations.com/bonnetbabesA.htm

Here is a sample using the detail designs below. I am sure you can also find many designs in your *design stash* that you could use on these backgrounds.

You can also experiment with different colors on the background designs to get totally different looks - do the greens in oranges and golds for a Fall look, or pale mint green colors for spring. Many of the green sections along the horizon could be done in pale lavender to look like mountains in the backgound.

Someone asked me if the Native American Women would go with the Mega sized version of the backgrounds so I did a couple of screen shot samples (for some reason the water wouldn't show up - but it would stitch out!) :

How do you decide where to put things or what colors to use?

Print out templates of the different designs, cut them out, and lay them out on your backgrounds. To help decide what colors to use, print out templates of the backgrounds and designs, borrow your kids or Grand Kids Crayolas (or better yet buy you "own" new box of Crayolas - love that smell!) and color in the templates until you are happy with the results. Then just follow your colored templates when doing your stitching.
