SUBMIT IDEA
If your idea is used for a future set, you will receive that set
free! Please be as detailed as possible - type of scene, detail
designs, etc. See **Rules** at bottom of Page
| *Under the Sea*
consists of 9 background designs. The first three lay the foundation
for the entire design. Then there are three more designs you can use
to create a second row of background (see large design below). The
next three designs, which are optional, are stitched on top of the
first layer to add more detail. Finally you can choose all kinds of
designs to create your own unique seascape! |

4.9" x 6.4" |
| |
| |
12.5" x 15.5" |
| You can use all
three panels, or just one to create different size scenes. Or you
can combine as many of them as you want to create any size design.
You can also experiment with different colors for parts of each design.
For example in the 12.5x10.5 example above, I stitched part of the
*sea* in browns to create a rock overhang. Because you also receive
a 4x4 split version of each background section, even if you have a
4x4 hoop you can create very large designs! |
Some of the suggested
uses for these designs have been: Tote Bags, Framed Pictures and Wall
Hangings, Picture books with the smaller designs done separately and
having Tack It on the back so children can make their own scenes,
jacket backs with the coordinating designs coming around to the front
bottoms of pants with the fish swimming up the leg - I'm sure you
will think of many more!. |
How do you decide where to put things or what colors to use?
Print out templates of the different designs, cut them out, and
lay them out on your backgrounds. To help decide what colors to
use, print out templates of the backgrounds and designs, borrow
you kid's or Grand Kid's Crayolas (or better yet buy your "own"
new box of Crayolas - love that smell!) and color in the templates
until you are happy with the results. Then just follow your colored
templates when doing your stitching.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING DESIGN
The instructions below show you step by step how to combine the
above designs into your own unique seascape.
The method I am describing is one I use for most of my designs
that need *lining up*. I also use it for split designs.
Hoop your fabric and stitch design BFC120-01 You will notice the
small *corner stitches*. These are a large outline stitch that will
be easy to remove when you are done. They are not used to put the
first three designs together, but are used when you are ready to
stitch the overlays.
Print out a paper template of design BFC120-02. Cut out around
the outline of the hoop. Then cut out the background from the left
side of the design as show in the illustration. Line up this template
with the first design that you stitched. Once you have the placement
you want, tape down the template
Place the top part of your hoop over the template you have taped
onto your fabric. Tape down the hoop onto the fabric and slide the
lower part of your hoop your fabric and clamp the hoop together.
Because you have fixed the top hoop in the correct placement, you
will assure having the right placement for the design. Remove the
paper template and stitch design BFC120-02
| |
Print out the template for Design BFC120-03 and repeat the steps
above, cutting out the hoop outline and then the left side of the
design. Line it up on your fabric and tape it down.
Put the top part of your hoop over the template and put some pieces
of tape to hold it down. Slide your lower hoop underneath and clamp
together. Stitch design BFC120-03.

Layer One completed
Re-hoop your fabric centering the 4 corners stitched out with Design
BFC120-01. Load design BFC120-04 and moving the flywheel manually,
see if the needle comes down on top of the lower left corner of
design BFC120-01
If the needle does not come down in the right place, and your machine
allows you to move the design, move the design in right direction
and move the flywheel manually. Repeat this process until your needle
comes down right on top of the lower left corner stitches
| |
Design BFC120-04 stitched on top of first layer. You can now go
on to stitch BFC120-05 and BFC120-06 or while your fabric is hooped,
you can add some of the additional designs.
I decided to add some fish before I went on to stitch BFC120-05
You can then stitch the other two Overlay designs and add some
details!
Many designs can be re-sized at no cost, please contact me with
the size you need!
| **RULES for submitting
Ideas** In order to be considered your idea has to be detailed. For
example an entry that just say *garden scene* will definitely not
be chosen. But if that entry explains what the background could look
like, lists some of the detail designs that would go with it, then
there is a chance. In the event of duplicate entries, the first entry
received will be chosen. As I make choices from the entries, I will
post them to this page so you will know what has already been decided
upon. You may enter more than once. My decision as to which ideas
I choose will be final. |
