Embroidered and Beaded Necklace

The Stained Glass Dragonfly

Computer Geek by day, embroidery addict by night….

I have been doing sewing and crafts all my life, but about 12 years ago I had to forgo my passion to build my computer business. Two years ago, I decided enough was enough and I was going to make time to do the things I loved! I started with beading, something I had not tried before. As with all crafts, I soon become addicted and tried new and various ideas in my beading. Then last Christmas, I decided to buy myself a super present! I bought a Bernina 200e Embroidery Sewing machine and this was true love at first site. Because of work, I could never attend the free classes they offered, so I experimented as I went along. My embroidery didn't follow the beaten path as had none of my other crafts. I soon decided there had to be a way to combine my two new found passions: Beading and Embroidery.

The result is the subject of this project. Embroidery and beading are super partners: both are very versatile, both come in all the shades of the rainbow, including all kinds of metallics and iridescent sheens; one is the result of high technology and mechanization and the other can be done sitting alone listening to beautiful music. I often embroider several medallions and then when I'm in the mood for some quiet time I get them out and do the beading.
