Although as fragile as rice paper, tiny Alpine Wildflowers survive and flourish in the harshest of terrains above the tree line at 4,000 to 5,000 feet. Perhaps this seeming impossible feat of nature creates their appeal for us. They remind us that humans too are fragile in many ways, yet have survived over 3,000,000 years.
