These designs are reminiscent of the wonderful
ceramic tiles made during the Art Nouveau period.
The tiles often had many coats of glaze and were
also often three dimensional. These designs can
be used for quilts or smaller projects as the table
mat I did below. I think one of the larger designs
would look great on the back yoke of a black shirt
with the border design perhaps on the cuff or a
front pocket. I used metallic thread on most of
these, but they will look equally well with a gold
colored regular thread. Because Art Nouveau designs
used so many colors, you can totally change the
look of these designs by changing the colors. The
solid gold design would be appropriate for displaying
an initial on a quilt or alone on a set of towels.
