Tole Kitchen Sets

Apple, Strawberry, Lemon and Flower

Donna Westlake (1909-2001) loved painting and artwork all her life. She played piano, painted, did folk art, furniture painting, stenciled fabric, and paper cutting in addition to building a business and financial career. She returned to her art after retirement and painted these trivets in 1997. Her daughter Grace has sent me this photograph and three others to use for designs. I have tried to keep the feel of the hand painting in these designs.

牋牋牋

The towel topper and the round mat (done all in the hoop) are designed so that you can slide a layer of fabric underneath your hoop before the last color to make a finished back. I would recommend using the same bobbin color as your top thread for this last satin stitch border. You can use the trivet, apple and leaf designs to decorate towels, aprons and other kitchen accessories

The towel topper can be sewn directly to a towel, or you can use strips of Velcro or snaps. It includes a buttonhole to use to attach the towel to a bar or hook.

This set is only appropriate for a 5x7 or larger hoop. If I get enough requests, I will consider doing this set for the 4x4 hoop.
