An Oriental View

Barbara Del Duco and I collaborated again on our oriental scene. Barbara did all the great artwork and layout and I did the digitizing. We've each made projects to give you some ideas. I stitched mine on Silk Dupioni with appliquéd mountains, grass and water. I then added hot fix crystals, beads and free motion stitching over all the background to bring out the designs.

Barbara did her scenes two different ways. For the Lady and the Peacock she embroidered the designs on organdy and water soluble stabilizer, then cut them out and applied them to the pieced background. A great way to start if you haven't done a scene and are afraid you won't get the designs lined up the way you want! In her second scene with the dragon, she stitched her designs directly on her background. She also created clouds, mountains and even a thunderbolt with appliqué.
