What is and has always been appealing to me about "photographic"
snapshots, particularly that of faces, is that everything
that is extraneous vanishes. There is a sincere directness
in the communication. The ego's machinations do not exert
as strong an influence in the frozen moment and what is
left is a directness whose equivalent in language is difficult
to achieve-hence the saying "a picture is worth a 1,000
words".
